PhD project description

The role of m5C-regulated transcriptome in Prostate cancer (PCa) is largely unexplored. Within the framework of the MSCA Doctoral Network EURECA, the main aim of the PhD project to be developed at the Cancer Biology and Epigenetics Group at the IPO Porto Research Center is to characterize the epitranscriptomic landscape on primary and metastatic PCa focusing on m5C mark. The selected PhD candidate will investigate the functional and regulatory network of PCa-associated m5C-RNAs. She/he will, specifically:

  1. Profile m5C-regulators in PCa clinical samples;
  2. Identify in vitro biological functions of the m5C-effectors in PCa;
  3. Screen m5C sites in PCa-associated ncRNAs;
  4. Perform statistical analyses of the generated data, contributing to the integration and interpretation of experimental results;
  5. Explore the biomarker potential of m5C -regulated non-coding RNAs;
  6. Collaborate with institutional partners and take part in joint research activities within the scope of the project.
