PhD project description
Project summary
Charting the RNA Editing landscape in human cancer is yet a challenging task, but relevant for discovering potential A-to-I editing neoantigens, which could lead to novel immune-based therapies. To date, ad hoc computational pipelines for this task are lacking.
The main objectives of the doctoral program are:
1) setting up bioinformatics tools for the detection of RNA editing events in cancer using massive transcriptome data (publicly available or produced by the consortium);
2) developing an automated computational workflow for the identification of RNA editing neoantigens by matched RNAseq and DNAseq data from cancer patients (and RNAseq data from the normal tissue couterpart) and validation in specific case-studies (available in the consortium);
3) establishing a refurbished version of the REDIportal database (a specialised collection of A-to-I RNA editing in humans) for cancer RNA editing and neoantigen candidates.
